Preparing for Contact
What does it actually mean to prepare for contact?
As conversations about UAP, non-human intelligence, and the possibility of life beyond Earth become more mainstream, I've found myself returning to that question again and again.
I don't think preparation begins with having all the answers.
I think it begins with learning how to meet uncertainty.
Most of us naturally resist change. We cling to what is familiar because it gives us a sense of certainty and control. We want life to confirm what we have already understood, rather than face the uncertainty of having to change our worldview.
Perhaps preparing for contact asks something different of us—to set aside our assumptions, our fears, and even our hopes long enough to look honestly at what is before us.
Whether we're talking about UAP disclosure, NHI, or any major shift in our understanding of the universe and our place in it, real preparation is learning to distinguish what we know from what we merely believe.
It is becoming willing to revise our understanding as new evidence, experiences, and perspectives emerge. And it requires developing discernment instead of reacting from fear or wishful thinking.
This takes humility. It takes patience. It takes courage to admit, "Perhaps I’m not yet seeing the full picture."
If humanity is confronted with a reality that changes the understanding of our place in the universe, I imagine people will respond in very different ways.
Some people will turn away.
Not because they're incapable of understanding, but because profound change asks more of us than information alone. It asks us to reconsider the assumptions we've carried our entire lives, and that can be very uncomfortable.
Others will resist.
Still others will remain curious, continuing to ask questions without rushing toward certainty.
As I reflect on all of this, I realize that I don't know how this will unfold. None of us does.
But I do know the kind of person I want to be. I want to be someone who can rethink and reevaluate what I regard as reality.
I also want to be someone who can:
Stay curious without becoming gullible.
Question without becoming cynical.
Adapt without losing my center.
Remain open without surrendering my discernment.
To me, this is what preparation really means.
I’m not preparing for a single specific event, but preparing myself to meet whatever comes with greater clarity, greater courage, and greater compassion while staying grounded and adapting my understanding as new information emerges.
If humanity is entering a new chapter—whether through UAP disclosure, contact with non-human intelligence, or challenges we cannot yet imagine—the greatest preparation may be becoming the kind of person who can rethink and respond wisely to the current and coming changes.
How we respond may ultimately matter more than what actually happens.
Whatever the future holds, the most important preparation may not be knowing exactly what is coming.
It may be becoming the kind of person who can meet reality with clarity, humility, discernment, and courage.
